I am a biologist and microbiologist from Universidad de Los Andes and current MSc. student in the Biological Sciences program. My major areas of interest are wildlife parasitology, zoonotic diseases, and non-human primates. I am interested in studying parasites in non-human primates, which is a relatively new field of research with little exploration in Colombia. Currently, my research is focused on Malaria in three neotropical non-human primate species, in geographic locations with different fragmentation degree. From the perspective of zoonoses, it is essential to establish which species of parasites are shared by groups of human and non-human primates, particularly in the context of current processes of land use change and forest fragmentation.
